PC Rebuilders & Recyclers and the Illinois Technology Foundation Team to Bridge the Digital Divide in Illinois
Chicago, IL – August 1, 2013 –
The success of our state and the nation is dependent on maintaining our lead in the application and use of technology. The Foundation is committed to supporting the development and proficiency of the technology talent pipeline within Illinois. Part of that commitment requires that everyone in our community has access to affordable computer and online technology.
To meet this commitment, the Foundation has teamed with PC Rebuilder & Recyclers (PCRR), an Illinois based recognized leader in IT asset disposition service and support. This ongoing collaboration addresses the digital divide – a growing gap between the digitally enabled and the digitally excluded in American society. Approximately 28 million American households lack a home computer, and 13.2 million computers are needed for non-profits and schools.
The Foundation and PCRR are working with Illinois businesses to fill this gap through donations of used technology that will provide much-needed computer equipment for schools that are training the state’s future technology leaders. In addition, refurbished equipment is made available to students, parents and veterans.
For donors, participation in this program, transforms surplus IT into strategic assets to bridge the digital divide while boosting sustainability and social responsibility.
“PCRR is delighted to add the Illinois Technology Foundation as a preferred partner. It is always exciting to find a partner who shares our passion around providing quality affordable technology.“ says Sarah Commes, President of PC Rebuilders & Recyclers.
“We are pleased to team with PCRR, an organization that shares our vision and passion to eliminate the digital divide in Illinois” says William R, Waas, Chairman & CEO of the Illinois Technology Foundation
