We encourage girls and young women to consider majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field by providing the support and resources to gain the confidence and perseverance to achieve their goals.

We provide a diverse set of opportunities, events and experiences to encourage girls and young women to consider majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field.  We recognize the value in providing the support and resources to assist them in gaining the confidence and perseverance to achieve their goals.  Technology experiences in industries where women are succeeding give girls with interest and talent, the resources and examples to pursue their dreams in the STEM fields.

Young Ladies: 8 – 13 yrs of age

  • Early Technology Experiences in Real world industry STEM fields
  • Resources to feed interest such as KhanAcademy , Pygames, CodeAcademy
  • Early networking and peer support across diverse socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Events available through partnered organizations designed for this age group

High School Ladies: 14 – 18 yrs of ages

  • Women In Technology Panels 
  • Assisting in High School Field trip requests for Industry visits
  • Attending Young Ladies Technology Experiences as Interns/Assistants (Leaders to those girls)
  • Supporting Educators through participation in Career fairs
  • Resource Sharing with events such as:
    • DigiGirlz, Girls who Code (Various events)
    • Fifty for the future (Fall) and NCWIT (National Center for Women In Technology  (Spring)

University & College Level Ladies: 18+ yrs of ages

TechSavvy by AAUW

March 25, 2017 from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm: AAUW Downers Grove Branch will host the fourth Tech Savvy for 6th-9th grade girls (and their parents/adults influencers) in Chicagoland at Triton College, located at 2000 Fifth Avenue  River Grove, IL 60171 – Only $10 per attendee for a full day of programs and lunch!

The Illinois Technology Foundation prides itself on assisting community contacts when there is a need to get a STEM club off the ground, and we are pleased to say this is off to a strong start thanks to Dottie, Mary Ann, Robin and Isabella (our Student Founder)!  Have a girl who might be interested in joining?  Currently, they have 1-2 openings remaining.  Please email for more information.
Engineering: July 2017 – Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs Camp – is a two week program, Mon-Thu 9 am – 4 pm each day, Girls only between the ages of 12 and 16 attended. See 2016 flyer or More Details Coming Soon

Fall 2016:  Illinois Technology Foundation will be at NIU STEMfest again this year! Girls who had been to one of our Ladies In Tech experience, can stay tuned for special opportunities this year and receive a special gift!  Our girls will again lead the initiative and create science projects for attendees to try out for themselves! STEM:  Tech Savvy by AAUW and ITF, A full day of STEM at Triton in River Grove, IL for 6th – 9th grade girls was held in March 2015 and included both youth and adult workshops as well as a college corner. Tech-Savvy-Logo

Information Technology: Lane Technical High School held its Inaugural Computer Science Conference for Women on November 8, 2014; with 90 girls in attendance, workshops and general sessions fueled them with a new found knowledge on various computer science topics ranging from Computational Analytics to Computer Programming. lanelogo-shadow

Aviation:  Lewis University Women & Minorities Spring Conference, attended workshops with female professionals from Fedex, FAA, Chicago Airport Authority and more; ranging in Air Traffic Control and Flight (Pilots) to Administration and Security        fedex   faa
Technology:  June 26, 2015 : Microsoft Technology Experience(s) at the Windows Store in Oakbrook, IL: ITF provided workshops with Microsoft to offer three (3) Unique topics for girls aged 8-13 yrs old, includes workshop, snack & beverage: Photo Workshop (11-1 pm), Movie Maker (2-4 pm), or Astronomy (6-8 pm)…was only $5 per girl, ONLY one session per individual…was held- Space was Limited to 54 unique girls across all sessions, and was a great experience was had by all who attended!
Engineering/Technology:  June 22-25, 2015 at 12:30 – 4:20 pm: WaterBotics (Creating underwater robots) being held at Triton College, River Grove, IL: Space was limited

STEM:  October 17, 2015:  Illinois Technology Foundation saw over 600 visitors in their first year as an exhibitor at NIU STEMfest this year! Girls who had been to one of our Ladies In Tech experience, came by for and received a special gift!  Our girls created science projects and hundreds of attendees tried them out for themselves! Over a hundred attendees participated in our computerized raffle and Signed-up on site for our newsletter! Why not check out this years STEMfest and make it a family day! STEMfest is free and open to the public!
